This Substack by journalists living with chronic illness features stories by writers who have experienced terrible health stuff in our healthcare system, paired with empathetic and hilarious comics by great comic artists. Tragedy + Time = Comedy of course, but it's also a balm when you're going through stuff.
This was the perfect podcast to get me going in the Substack world, FAST. The authors are fun to listen to on their podcast and I appreciate their attitudes towards the platform -- make it work for you. I was delighted to get some freebies when I signed up for the emailed version.
Every time I want to write about what I'm doing to live in a dumb house, I think of The Analog Family and how Katherine is doing it better.
Oh gosh -- these ladies! I don't even write in the genres they do but they are constant companions for how to stay productive and sane on the writer's path. Inspirational women, with a podcast I return to often. They even got me thinking of having a speaking career!
I listen to the podcast version of this one whenever I need a good head check on the creative process. It's fun and actionable and takes the drama out of having a writing career.
I'm loving this newsletter about TRYING things, and re-invention, and inspiration, and bold living. Reads like a magazine but without the elitism.
I've known Melissa ever since she passed off her magazine writing class to me at the University of Oregon. She is one of the most generous, funny, and delightful people in the business and she makes it all feel like enormous fun.
These ladies are the best! There's always something for me on the podcast version of #amwriting, and I've gotten some great career advice listening to writers writing in different genres than my own. Because of them, I'm feeling confident in exploring a speaking career in addition to writing.
