Thank you. Much of this is a me issue “I’m the problem, ha” but I have appreciated all of the notes from friends. I’ve gotten quite a few emails on this one :)
Sorry to hear you are still struggling with the flu. Hope you start to feel yourself again soon. Parenting is tough and even tougher when you aren't feeling your best. Also, remember, you aren't being fired, your job description is just evolving...and to quote Andy from The Office - "I wish there was a way to know you're in the 'good old days' before you've actually left them." This too shall pass; when he's left the nest, you'll miss these days, even the ones where he coughed in your face! ;) I know that doesn't make any of this any easier, but I love your photo solution to embracing the present, instead of pining for the past. <3
So in need of some REAL TALK! Thank you, Rachel. I was wondering how you went through this when you were posting all of those end-of-school pics of your son. Such a normal thing to experience and yet, baby feels! So many. I just didn't realize it would happen so soon. I thought maybe junior year. It's like I completely forgot my own experience!
MY 15-year-old son recently said to me, "You wouldn't understand." So! I have reached this milestone of raising teens! It does take patience. I hope you feel better soon. The flu really really really sucks.
Oh but do we! And then some. Going back to heard, held, or helped. I am going to have to get comfortable with just held. But even that is becoming a less often thing. I'm Rilke staring at the panther, who is telling me You must change your life."
Can't say it gets better (D's almost 18), but it does get different, and a little easier to manage

I think it’s a perfect project to process all the feels.
I remember myself and the horrid things I said at that age, and WOOF is all I can say 🙃
Thank you. I was at my worst at 14, but really, it does feel like losing a significant relationship.
